the a-team at work

When we work on big projects like this, we call ourselves the A-team. Rooftop gardens are fun, but they require a lot of preparation. After all, it’s not easy to create a garden on the topfloor of a building in the middle of the city centre in Antwerp. Rooftop operations are the result of well managed teamwork.

Firstly, we have to obtain the right permits to be able to divert traffic. Secondly, we take care of all necessary traffic cones and signalization. In the meantime we move smaller plants upstairs using the staircase or elevator. Thirdly, we all wait for the crane to arrive because when it does, we have to operate really quickly.

We were asked to create two garden rooms on the roof. One at the front and one at the back, with lawn and flower borders. We went for a classic design, mainly because the garden is used as a play area for the children. While we were working on the roof, we couldn’t help but to enjoy the skyline. The view from the rooftop was absolutely amazing!
