High walls covered with poplars and an outgrown wintergreen hedge of Prunus laurocerasus is perfect to create privacy. Downside however, is that is casts big shadows, turning grass into a moss covered area. To create a nice play area for the children we replaced it with castle grind. This type of material and not too small and round, perfect for walking barefoot.

Areas bathing in sunlight are adorned with flower borders, providing color and variation, from Spring till Fall: Geranium‚ Gerwat’, Persicaria amplexicaulis‚ Speciosa’, Verbena bonariensis, Anemone‚ Pamina’, Panicum‚ Rotstrahlbusch’, Kniphofia‚ Alcazar’, Crocosmia‚ Lucifer’ and Miscanthus.

Walls facing the North, were painted anthracite, beautifully contrasting with the light grind, the bright flowers and the red bench.
